I have made many long lasting friendships here at pine
point and with these friendships have come some great
memories
One of my earliest memories comes from my first day at
Pine Point School. I remember starting kindergarten and
coming into the classroom with my blue spider man shirt on
looking for someone to play with. I remember seeing a little
boy in a white sweater with bright red curly hair sitting on
the floor playing with wooden blocks. I was so amazed by
his hair that I sat down next to him and helped him build a
castle while admiring Orion’s fiery curls. even though orion
has left pine point he is still on of my many great friends.
Another memorie is when I was In the third grade. I would
go to quinlan's house with seth and we would fill rubber
gloves with water and go out into his yard. we made up a
game called survivor where we would through the gloves
into trees and hope they would safely land back on the
ground without being popped by the branches And even
though we no longer play survivor ( i promiese) we are still
good friends.
Another memory was when I was in the fifth grade. I took a
trip to costa rica during spring break with my friend athan.
We would wake up early in the morning and go outside to
try to catch eaguanas. I remember one night though where
athan and I encountered a small but painful insect. We
were walking at night and we stopped to look at some fire
dancers athan and I were standing next to each other
mesmerized by the people twirling balls of fire. We were so
concentrated on the show that we didn't notice we were
standing on a hill of fire ants. Before we knew it the ants
were all over our feet and between our toes biting and
stinging us. We were in so much pain that we were running
around screaming while frantically brushing ants off our
feet. I will never forget this trip with my good friend athan
Not only have these memories come from long ago but
also from just this year. Weather its catching frogs while
camping with dean, walking from Athan’s house with Jose
marcus and John for miles and miles to the big Y just to
get cookies and milk or getting hypothermia after skating
for hours at the rink in westerly with alden miles jack grant
and nick I have made some amazing memories. Not only
do my friends have a great sense of humor but they are
also supportive and caring. for example, recently while I
was interviewing at boarding schools I woke up to a text
message from Eliza wishing me good luck and telling me to
really sell myself and share all the fun and interesting
things I have done here at pine point. I Am hoping that my
friends will stay with me for along time and we will keep
making great and wonderful expieriences together.
Pine Point has also pushed me to become a much better
student especially with organization and my dyslexia. I
have been working on organization for my whole life at pine
point. for example, It is hard for me to keep my locker
clean and keep my binders in order. sometimes when I
open my locker books, binders, and papers will fall on the
floor making me late to class. I also have a big problem
with organization at home. Sometimes when I get ready to
do homework I will sit down and spend 20 minutes
searching for the right papers. Many of those times i will
have forgotten the materials at school and have to call a
friend for help. I have even tried to take medication to help
with my organization and focus but the only problem was i
could never remember to take it. I am working very hard to
be able to get things where they need to be so that I can
can quickly access them and know where they are at all
times.
I also have a hard time reading because of my
dyslexia and even though I have gotten better it still makes
me do ridiculous things. Just the other day I was playing a
game called draw something with my sister. The game
gives you a list of three words to pick from and you must
draw one of the words for the other player. I picked what I
thought was the word thumbtacks. When the other player
gets the picture you have drawn they must attempt to
guess what the drawing is with a set of scrambled letters.
After I had drawn the thumbtacks for bella, she came to
me with a confused look on her face. She asked me what
the Picture was and I told her what i had drawn. She said
she tried to guess thumbtacks already but there weren't
the right letters to spell it. She then pushed the give up
button to see what the word was. she started to laugh and
when I asked her what was wrong She said that the word I
had chosen was actually tom hanks not thumbtacks and I
had just badly misread the word. She wouldn't stop
laughing after that. Despite some occasional mistakes I
have become a much better reader and am getting a lot
better at putting things where they need to be. this wouldnt
be possible without the help of all my great teachers. For
the past 6 years I have been getting help from Mrs. fritche
and Mrs. seltzer with reading and writing. This year I have
been getting more help with organization from my advisor
Mrs. Iaquoi. these three people have been working really
hard for a long time and I am so thankful for what they
have done for me.
All these things make it really sad to leave Pine Point. I will
have to say goodbye to seeing my great friends everyday. I
will have to say goodbye to all the teachers that help me
with organization and work. and I will have to say goodbye
to all the wonderful thing Pine Point has given me.
